ABOUT BOOTS TO BUSINESS REBOOT
Boots to Business Reboot is a two-step training program that provides participants an overview of business ownership as a career vocation, an outline and knowledge on the components of a business plan, a practical exercise in opportunity recognition, and an introduction to available public and private sector resources.
Step one is the Introduction to Entrepreneurship course eligible to Veterans of all eras, service members (including members of the National Guard and Reserve) and their spouses. This course is instructed by SBA and its partners, who are skilled business advisors.
Step two is the follow on Foundations of Entrepreneurship course instructed by a consortium of professors and skill-ed business advisors from the SBA Network.

Gail A. Marquis
Regional Director of the NJ Small Business Development Center (NJSBDC) at New Jersey City University (NJCU) in Hudson County. Gail brings a wealth of knowledge and access within the community. She is also the Director of Community Relations for the School of Business and Director of the NJCU Business Development Incubator (BDI). In her capacity, Gail has revitalized the BDI by recruiting entrepreneurial businesses, start-ups and established small businesses to acquire office space and take advantage of the training and network provided.
Lender Relations Specialist and Economic Development Specialist, has been with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) since 2015. Gene’s responsibilities include marketing the SBA’s guarantee program to banks, assisting banks with administering the SBA’s programs and educating the local community about the Resources and Services available through the SBA. He is also the SBA NJ District Veterans Outreach Officer.
Previously, Gene has over 22 years experience as Commercial Lending Officer for several banks and over 5 years experience as a Government Contracting Officer.
Gene is a Veteran of the Iraq war and has an MBA from Rutgers Graduate School of Management.
Currently The American Legion, Department of New Jersey’s Employment, Homeless & Education Chairman, and is a past State Commander. He also serves on the NJ Veterans’ Service Council nominated by his Senator, approved by The Adjutant General and Governor. Bob has received two NJ Meritorious Service Medals for volunteer efforts primarily in the areas of employment, homelessness and veterans’ education. He also received the AUSA’s (Association of the US Army) 2017 Distinguished Service Award for the same above subject areas and named “#1 Veterans Advocate for NJ” by AUSA.
Served almost ten years as a Regular Army Officer. Highest rank Major.US Army Infantry Airborne, Jungle Expert and awarded Bronze Star for combat action in Vietnam Served in Vietnam 1966-1968.
Mr. Izzi has over forty years of business experience, holding senior management positions as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Controller and Chief Technology Officer and Executive Director of New York City’s Financial Information Services Agency (FISA) during the Koch administration. His corporate employment credentials include IBM, Pfizer, Financial Information Services Agency (City of New York), NUI and AJI Corporation.
At the age of 18, he joined the service and became a Navy Corpsmen where he was able to hold the care of the sick and injured to be a privilege and a sacred trust.
While stationed at Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico as an Aviation Medical Technician, Victor saw a lot of good and educated people going through hardships because of poor financial preparation. Passionate about helping others, in 1984 he left the Navy to pursue a career in banking.
As a branch manager, Victor held countless workshops, seminars, and one-on-one coaching sessions in order to provide financial literacy to those in need. Grateful for all his blessings, Victor continues his efforts through organizations such as SCORE, and the SBDC.
Senior Business Consultant at the NJ Small Business Development Center (NJSBDC) at New Jersey City University (NJCU) in Hudson County, specializing in corporate finance and turnaround management. He has also assisted in developing and implementing programs for Spanish speaking entrepreneurs.
Mr. Silvestre has over 10 years of corporate finance experience covering a broad range of transaction types in different industries, including but not limited to, debt and equity raises, recapitalizations, valuation modeling and has assisted on several middle market M&A and LBO deals.
Victor brings with him over a decade of experience working in audit and advisory services. Prior to founding GG CPA Services, he worked for a Big 4 accounting firm, specializing in financial services entities. In the beginning of his career, he serviced financial clients in Milan (Italy), Madrid (Spain), and across Europe. After a few years, Victor moved to New York, where he audited asset management and insurance clients and consulted on different projects nationally. Victor has serviced an array of clients from large firms to small business; both domestic and international.

Located on Culver Avenue, the Michael Gilligan Student Union garage offers two levels of NJCU campus parking beneath the building and an open lot.
Enter by turning right from Culver Avenue, approaching from West Side Avenue. (Approaching from Kennedy Boulevard, left turns are prohibited by the Jersey City Police Department.)
The adjacent open lot is accessed through the GSU Parking Garage.
